On Thursday, Jennifer Hicks was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s All-American team. Hicks, sophomore forward from Bossier High School, was named among the nation’s elite players after boasting big numbers in her freshman season. Last year, she averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game.

Hicks also set new national records, tying her teammate Candace Lacombe’s record for most free throws made in one game (21-21, 2/18/09 vs. Meridian CC), as well as having the second longest consecutive free throw streak in NJCAA history (29 in a row). She also led the nation by making and attempting the most free throws of any player in Division II.

“It’s a real honor to be named to the All-American team. Individual awards are great, but our eyes are still on the national championship,” said Hicks after learning of the news. “I worked hard all summer, and hopefully that pays off into having an even better season than last,”

Hicks is the first LSU Eunice Basketball All-American since Kayla Armstrong was honored in 2007.
