District Tournament Details Revealed
LSUE Basketball
The Lady Bengals learned of all the details for their upcoming run for the District B Championship.
Post-season play will begin for LSUE in Harrison, Arkansas, near the Missouri/Arkansas border, on the campus of North Arkansas College. This year, hosting duties belonged to the NJCAA Region II Champion, and on Saturday afternoon, the North Arkansas Lady Pios defeated the Redlands Lady Cougars 92-84.
LSUE has drawn Johnson County Community College as their first round opponent. According to District Tournament rules, LSUE was scheduled to face the #1 seed out of Region VI. The Lady Cavs defeated Hesston Community College on Saturday 66-55 to earn a spot in the tournament.
This won't be the first time LSUE takes on Johnson County Community College. LSUE has faced the Lady Cavs three times, sporting a 2-1 record over the former National Champions. Previous meetings include last year's loss, a 2005 semi-final victory in the District Tournament, and a 2007 win, which led LSUE to that year's National Tournament.
LSUE will play the second game of the night on March 6th, tentatively scheduled for an 8 pm tipoff.
North Arkansas will play in the first semi-final scheduled for 6 pm. Their opponent will be the Brown Mackie College Lady Lions. Brown Mackie won their play-in game 74-71 over Highland Community College on Saturday as well.
If LSUE is to win their game on Friday, they will play on Saturday, March 7th for the Championship, and a ticket to the National Tournament in Peoria, Illinois. That game is scheduled to tip at 2 pm.
All of LSUE's post-season contests will be broadcast live on KVPI.
