Game Three:
LSU Eunice 1, Black Hawk College 4

NORMAL, IL – The LSU Eunice Lady Bengals were eliminated from the 2009 NJCAA Division II Softball National Championship after losing an elimination game to Black Hawk College 4-2.

The girls finished their first trip to the national finals with a 1-2 record in the tournament and 35-16 overall. The Lady Bengals defeated Chesapeake College in a elimination game yesterday 11-2 after falling in the first game to Johnson County Community College.

The Lady Bengals’ game with Black Hawk was delayed four hours due to heavy rain in the Chicago area. The girls took a 1-0 lead early in the game, but Black Hawk pulled out in front in the sixth inning and hung on to advance in the losers bracket. Black Hawk must win four more games to reach the finals of the tournament on Saturday.

Kim St. Amant lead LSU Eunice in batting, finishing 1-for-3 and picking up the only score of the game for the Lady Bengals off a home run to left center field.

The Lady Bengals finished with four hits, one run and two errors. They will return to Eunice early Saturday morning.

Game Two:
LSU Eunice 11, Chesapeake 2
Linbsey Babin, Haley Sanchez, Rhea Person and Chasity Gary lead the way for the LSU Eunice Lady Bengal Softball squad as they advance in the NJCAA Division II Softball National Championships. Babin was 1-for-three and scored 3 runs. Sanchez finished 2-for-3, scored 3 runs and had an RBI. Person was 2-for-4, scored 1 run, and had 2 RBI, while Gary finished 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored. LSU Eunice (35-15) crushed Chesapeake (21-15) 11 to 2 to advance to the next round of the championship. The Lady Bengals will the loser of this afternoon’s game between Lansing Community College and Black Hawk College. Tomorrow’s game will be at 10 a.m. The girls need to win five more to reach the finals on Saturday.

Game One:

LSU Eunice 4, Johnson County Community College 7
  - The Lady Bengals fell behind early 1-0, but tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning.  Johnson County pulled out in front with three runs scored in the third.  LSU Eunice answered, adding 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.  Johnson County added to their lead in the fifth, scoring three runs and holding on for  the win.   Lindsey Babin and Bridget Waller each went 3-for-2 in the game and had an RBI.  Stacy Sutton is credited with the loss.  She pitched all seven innings.
