LSU Eunice defeats Holmes
Thursday May 14th, Eunice, LA – The LSUE Baseball team (46-10) opened their play in the Region 23 tournament with a victory over Holmes Community College by a 12-2 score. Chance Mistric (13-1) of Port Barre High School earned the win pitching a complete game. Mistric allowed four hits, two runs, two walks and totaled seven strikeouts.
Offensively, eight of the nine batters in the starting line-up recorded at least one hit. Jordan Bourque of Teurlings Catholic led the way going 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Gabriel Thibodeaux of St. Louis Catholic and Jacob Fisher of Zachary High each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Thibodeaux added two RBI’s.
The LSUE vs. Holmes game was the second of the day. In earlier action, Hinds Community College defeated Itawamba Community College 9-8. In tomrrow’s action of the double-elimination tournament, Holmes will play Itawamba at 1 pm and LSUE will play Hinds at 4 pm.
