Softball Advances to National Tournament
CLINTON, MISS. – The LSU Eunice Lady Bengal Softball team has earned a spot in the NJCAA Softball National Championship May 14-16 in Bloomington, Illinois, after knocking off three teams in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.
The girls (37-16) defeated Copiah-Lincoln, Pearl River and Northwest Mississippi, Friday, to qualified for the National Tournament and a shot at the Region 23 Tournament on Saturday. LSU Eunice lost to Mississippi Gulf Coast 5-4 Sunday, but will still advance to the National Championship in two weeks because tournament rules take the top two teams from each region’s championship tournament.
This is the first time in the softball program’s short four-year history that the team has qualified for the national tournament. The team finished the regular season with a record 33 wins.
