EUNICE, LA -- On Thursday, the National Junior College Athletic Association released its annual list of All-Academic Teams.  The Lady Bengal Basketball team was honored for their hard work in the classroom, after garnering a cumulative 3.36 team grade point average.  That mark is the highest in team history, and also ranks 8^th among all women's basketball teams in the NJCAA (including Div. I, II, and III.) 

Head Coach Michael Bari spoke of his team’s accomplishments, and praised their efforts.  “I’m very proud of my team.  Our girls worked very hard in our study hall sessions, and on their own to achieve their outstanding grade point average.  This team exemplified quality on and off the floor.”

Under Bari’s direction, the program has seen marked improvements, tallying Team GPA’s of 2.61, 2.93, 3.04, 3.02, and 3.36 since 2005.  To qualify for All-Academic team nomination, a team must compile a GPA of at least 3.00 over the course of the academic year in which their sport is played.
