LSUE Takes Two from Ladies

EUNICE – The LSUE Lady Bengal basketball team improved to 5-4 on the season after defeating the Louisiana Ladies All-star team in two games here over the weekend.

The Lady Bengals won game one 93-46, and took game two 99-56.

Sophomore Katelyn Gary recorded 24 rebounds in the first game, tying a school record set by Casey Broussard in the 2005-2006 season. Gary finished the weekend with 37 total rebounds and 16 points.

In game one, the Lady Bengals scored 55 points from inside the paint to distance themselves from the Louisiana Ladies. LSUE finished with 103 rebounds and had 10 steals.

Jessica Pipkins had 28 points and 17 rebounds for LSUE and Ariel Dimes added 12 points. Lacey Thibodeaux scored 10 and Casey Primeaux finished with 11 points.

In game two, LSUE used a 52-point second quarter to put away the Ladies, and open up a 43-point lead by the end of the game.

Thibodeaux finished with 17 points, while five other Lady Bengals joined her in double-digit scoring. Kayla Armstrong had 15 points, Primeaux scored 11, Pipkins and Dimes each had 12 points and Annsley Stoma finished with 10.

LSUE starts a three-game road trip that will take them from the Ozark Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. The Lady Bengals will travel to Shorter College in Little Rock, Ark. and then head out to Los Angeles to face East LA College and Los Angels Harbor College.
