EUNICE – Former Erath High standout Casey Primeaux’s career high 22 points was not enough to give the LSUE Lady Bengal basketball team a victory here Saturday.

The sixth ranked Lady Bengals were upset 60-53 by Houston’s San Jacinto College (3-13).

LSUE (10-6) edged out San Jacinto in the first half, but the Lady Gators outscored the Lady Bengals 35-26 in the second half to earn the win.

The Lady Bengals could only manage to hit 23 percent of their shots and San Jac out rebounded LSUE 49-44 despite turning the ball over 27 times.

Primeaux led the Lady Bengals in scoring with 22 points. She sank three three-point baskets and was nearly perfect from the free throw line. Primeaux is averaging 11 points a game and leads the team in 3-pointers with 34.

Chelsie Guillory, a former St. Thomas More star, scored eight points, while Ariel Dimes of Rayne had seven.

Adanna Opara and Krissa Hartley each had 18 for San Jancinto.

LSUE split games with San Jacinto last year, falling 102-94 in overtime and then beating the Lady Gators 95-84 in a game that helped propel the Lady Bengals into the national tournament.

The Lady Bengals will get an opportunity to revenge their loss when they travel to Houston to battle with San Jac again on January 29.
