The LSU-Eunice Lady Bengals clinched their spot in the NJCAA District B tournament by winning their 15th game Saturday afternoon.  The victory came easy for the Bengals, who defeated the Louisiana Ladies for the second time in consecutive games.

The final score of 123-42 final score was the second most points ever scored by the Lady Bengals, and also the second largest margin of victory.  Both records belong to the 2005-06 team, who won 126-42 against the Louisiana All-Stars on January 5th, 2006.

The Bengals had seven players scoring in double digits, among them 3 double-doubles.  Leading the way for the Bengals was Candace Lacombe, who tied her career high in points with 33, adding 9 rebounds and 4 assists.  Quanessa Batiste contributed one of the double-doubles, with 18 points and 11 rebounds, Along with Sierra Goldwire's 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Amanda Fontenot's 10 points and 10 assists.  Other double digit scorers were Danielle Morgan and Mallory Thornton, who had 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Bengals win gives them the title of Region 23 champion.  Because LSUE is the only Division II team in their region, which consists of schools in Louisiana and Mississippi, they need to compile a .500 or better record by season's end, which was clinched with by their 15th victory in 29 scheduled contests.

The Bengals now advance to the District B tournament, which, at this point in time, details are unknown about the who, what, and where of their opponent is known.  What is known, is that on March 6th, LSUE will take on the winner of the Region 2 playoff, between North Arkansas College and Redlands Community College.

The Lady Bengals will take on the Delgado Lady Dolphins next on Thursday at 6 p.m.  The game will be broadcast live on KVPI 92.5 FM
