LSUE downs Delgado, Bari wins 100th game
LSUE Basketball
After hearing the news that leading scorer Candace Lacombe would be unable to play against the Lady Dolphins of Delgado, Coach Michael Bari knew his 100th win at LSU Eunice wouldn't come easy. But he still maintained full confidence that his squad would step up in their teammate's absence, and they did just that.
The Lady Bengals fought their way to an 81-69 victory Thursday night, and gave Bari the milestone victory. LSUE was led by Jennifer Hicks, who maintained her excellent season numbers by posting 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Courtney LeBlanc recorded a career high in points, scoring 15 points on 7-13 shooting with 8 rebounds in her 8th start this season taking Lacombe's place in the lineup. Sophomore Quanessa Batiste added 21 points, and Sierra Goldwire's 8 points were supplemented by 11 rebounds, and career-high in blocks with 5.
The Lady Bengals next contest is Saturday the 14th against Angelina College. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m at the HPRE Building on the LSUE Campus.
