Bengals win 3 of 4 on weekend road trip
Saturday March 21st, Andalusia, AL – The LSUE baseball team (26-4) split a doubleheader today with Black Hawk (IL) Community College and Lurleen B. Wallace (AL) Community College. LSUE defeated Black Hawk by a score of 11-5 in game one. Joey Bourgeios (6-0) of Lutcher High School pitched six innings, allowing eight hits, five earned runs, three walks, and striking out seven in earning the win. The Bengals were led offensively by Zach Kirksey of West Monroe and Jordan Bourque of Teurlings Catholic who collected three hits each. Bourque added three RBI’s.
In game two, the Bengals saw their 16 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the host school LB Wallace by a score of 6-3. Dane Amedee (2-1) of East Ascension High received the loss pitching 1 2/3 innings. Brandon Anderson of New Iberia Senior High allowed only one earned run in six innings of relief. Les Aulds led the Bengals offensively going 4-for-5 with an RBI. Aulds just ended a 14 game hit streak by going 0-for-3 in the first game. The Bengals next game; a doubleheader, is set for 1 pm on Tuesday March 24th in New Orleans at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium versus Delgado Community College.
