Baseball Wins First Games of Tournament

VICKSBURGE, Miss.  --  The LSU Eunice baseball team (14-3) won a split doubleheader today at Bazinsky Field in a round robin format tournament hosted by Hinds Community College here Thursday.

In the first game, LSU Eunice topped East Mississippi Community College by a score of 11-2.  Stefen Comeaux (1-0) pitched a complete game in earning the win, allowing five hits, striking out six batters, and walking two.

Offensively, the Bengals hit three home runs in the first inning (Granger, Fisher, and Barnett) while scoring five runs in the frame.  For the game, Granger and Fisher totaled two hits apiece.

In game two, LSU Eunice defeated Coahoma Community College 6-0. The Bengals were led by another complete-game pitching performance by Joe Fabre (2-0).  Fabre allowed six hits, struck out six Coahoma batters, and walked two. 

At the plate, Les Aulds led the way with two hits and two stolen bases. 

LSUE continues play in the Hinds Community College tournament Friday.  Games are scheduled against Northwest Mississippi Community College to begin at 4:00 pm and Kishwaukee (IL) Community College set for a 6:30 start.
