Bengals sweep doubleheader at Pearl River
Sunday April 5th, Poplarville, MS – The LSUE Baseball team (34-5) swept Pearl River Community College in a doubleheader by identical 16-6 scores. In game one, Chance Mistric (9-0) from Port Barre High pitched the complete run-rule shortened seven inning game. Mistric allowed nine hits, four earned runs, and collected six strike outs while allowing two walks. At the plate, the Bengals were led by Jordan Bourque of Teurlings Catholic who collected four hits, Caleb Clowers of West Monroe High who added three hits and three RBI’s, and Gabriel Thibodeaux of St. Louis Catholic who had a single and a homerun. Zach Kirksey of West Monroe hit a grandslam.
In game two, Joey Bourgeois (8-0) of Lutcher High School picked up the win pitching five innings, allowing 10 hits, five earned runs, with six strike outs and two walks allowed. Offensively, Trey Watkins of Destrehan High School went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three stolen bases. Thibodeaux added three hits including his second homerun of the day.
On the day, the Bengal offense collected 28 hits and totaled 32 runs.
The Bengals play again Monday April 6th at Louisiana College in Pineville for a single game set to begin at 5 pm.
