Top Ranked Bengals Off to 2-0 Start After Tournament

Defeats Temple 8-5; Pensacola 8-1

GAME TWO: BENGALS vs. PENSACOLA
HOUSTON, TX.  - The LSU Eunice baseball team (2-0) completed play today in the round-robin format tournament hosted by San Jacinto College-North by defeating Pensacola Junior College by a score of 8-1.

Mitchell Hopkins of University High earned the win in relief off starter Tony Dischler. Dischler, from Rayne, went four innings, allowing two hits and one earned run while walking three and striking out one. Hopkins allowed no hits over three innings with no runs, three walks, and four stikeouts.

Offensively, the Bengals were led by Ryan Broussard from Breaux Bridge who went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and Raph Rhymes of Neville High School who tallied three RBI's on a bases loaded double.

Game two of the day between LSU Eunice and San Jacinto was cancelled due to inclement weather. The game has be rescheduled as part of a three game series in early May when the Bengals are already scheduled to return to San Jacinto for match games.


GAME ONE: BENGALS vs. TEMPLE

HOUSTON, TX - The LSU Eunice baseball team opened its season tonight in a game versus Temple College from Temple, TX in a round-robin format tournament hosted by San Jacinto College-North. The Bengals defeated the Jaguars by a score of 8-5.

Chance Mistric (1-0) from Port Barre earned the win pitching four innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs while walking and striking out two batters. Dane Amedee of East Ascension High School earned the save (1) in relief of Mistric. Amedee pitched the final three innings of the scheduled seven inning game, allowing no hits and no runs while walking one and striking out three.

Offensively, the Bengals were led by Brook Boudreaux of Teurlings Catholic who went 3-for-3 with three RBI's. Raph Rhymes added two hits with and RBI and a run scored.

The Bengals play again tomorrow, Saturday January 30th here at the tournament in Houston. They are set to play Pensacola, FL at 4 pm and San Jacinto at 7 pm.
