Defeat MS Gulf Coast

It was a block party for the Lady Bengals in the final game of the LSU Eunice New Year’s Classic.

The Lady Bengals set a team record 15 blocks in their 77-66 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast CC Sunday afternoon.

LSU Eunice fell behind early following a three-pointer by MGCCC’s Kiara Johnson, but LSU Eunice rallied quickly back following a quick score from Sierra Goldwire, and a three by Amanda Fontenot. The Lady Bengals never relinquished their lead on the way to their eventual victory.

Their efforts were led by Goldwire and Jennifer Hicks, who each contributed five blocks to the total.

Leading the way in the score sheet for LSU Eunice was Twanisha Tillman. She finished 8-16 from the field, including four three-point baskets, for 20 points. She also added three blocks and six rebounds.

Amanda Fontenot recorded a season-high 12 assists and was 3-6 from the three-point line, finishing with 14 points in her first double-double of the season.
