Open Fall Classic with Win over Western Texas

EUNICE, LA – The LSU Eunice Lady Bengals improved to 3-0 on the season with a win over Western Texas College in the LSU Eunice Fall Classic here Thursday. The Lady Bengals overcame a slim halftime deficit to win 65-58 in their opening game of the Classic.

Five Lady Bengals ended the night in double digits. Freshman point guard from Lafayette, Tyler Compton, led LSU Eunice in scoring with 18 points and she finished with 10 assists. Former Menard standout, Maggie Vilar, finished with 14 points, four blocked shots and 13 rebounds, while sophomore Tillman had 12 points.  Smith of Pineville scored 11 points and Leinbergerr of Simms, Texas, had 10 points and led the team in rebounding with 14.

LSU Eunice struggled early against Western Texas (3-1), falling behind 25-23 at the half. The Lady Bengals scored 42 points in the second half to take the lead and remain perfect on the season.

In earlier action in the Classic, Frank Phillips College out of Borger, Texas, fell to Alabama’s Wallace State 70-49 and Faulkner State Community College lost to Hill College 56-36.
