LSU Eunice Sweeps Weekend Series
Sunday February 14th, Eunice, LA – The LSU Eunice baseball team (8-0) won both games of a doubleheader today against St. Charles Community College. The Bengals won game one by a score of 9-3. Tony Dischler (2-0) of Rayne picked up the victory pitching five plus innings, allowing two hits and three runs while walking two and striking out three. Jeremy Breaux, also of Rayne, pitched two scoreless innings in relief of Dischler.
At the plate, the Bengals were led by Andrew Reeves from Parkview Baptist who went 3-for-3 with two RBI’s and a run scored. Gabriel Thibodeaux added three RBI’s on his third homerun of the season.
LSU Eunice won the second game 15-2. Mitchell Hopkins (3-0) of University High pitched four innings, giving up three hits and one unearned run while walking two batters and striking out seven. Jacque Fruge of Eunice High led the was offensively going 3-for-3 with a double, four RBI’s, and two runs scored. Eldred Barnett of Benton High added two hits and three RBI’s and Reeves went 2-for-2 with three runs scored.
The two wins complete the weekend series sweep for LSU Eunice over St. Charles. The next scheduled contest for the Bengals will be Friday February 19th at Bengal Stadium set to begin at 6 pm. That will begin a three game weekend series against Galveston College.
