Bengals win two of three in New Orleans
Sunday March 21st, New Orleans, LA – The NJCAA division II #1 ranked LSU Eunice baseball team (29-4) participated in a three-team round-robin series of games this weekend.
On Saturday, LSU Eunice defeated McHenry County College from Crystal Lake, IL by a score of 10-4 in the first game. Chance Mistric (5-0); West Alabama signee, earned the win pitching the complete seven inning game, allowing seven hits and four runs; three earned, with two walks and 10 strikeouts. Offensively, four different Bengals collected multiple hits including Jacob Fisher; Southeastern signee, who went 3-for-3 with and RBI and a run scored. Les Aulds; ULM signeed, Raph Rhymes of Neville, and Gabriel Thibodeaux of St. Louis Catholic each went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI’s. Rhymes and Thibodeaux homered.
In the second game Saturday, the Bengals played the host team Delgado Community College. Delgado won 11-5. Tony Dischler (5-2); ULL signee, suffered the defeated pitching four innings, allowing seven hits and six runs with two walks and two strikeouts.
At the plate, Rhymes went 3-for-4 with a run scored and Eldred Barnett of Benton High went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI’s.
Sunday’s play saw the Bengals play a single game versus the host team Delgado. LSU Eunice won 13-3. Mitchell Hopkins (8-0); LSU signee, picked up the win pitching a complete game in the five innings run-rule shortened game. Hopkins allowed five hits and three runs; two earned, with two walks and seven strikeouts.
For the Bengals hitters, Rhymes added four more hits with a double, three RBI’s and two runs scored, and Zach Kirksey of West Monroe went 2-for-4 with a homerun, three RBI’s and two runs scored.
The next schedule game for the Bengals is set for Friday March 26th against Baton Rouge Community College. That game will be played in Baton Rouge at Pete Goldsby field and is scheduled to begin at 6 pm.
