Lady Bengals Split with Bossier

BOSSIER CITY -- The Lady Bengals split games with Bossier Parish Community College this week. The Lady Cavaliers took game one 10-9, but the Lady Bengals rallied in the second to win 3-0 and improve their record to 33-5.


Game one was a back and forth struggle, that witnessed six lead changes, with Bossier ending up on top with a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning.


Chasity Gary started off the scoring in the 1st inning, knocking in Hayley Sanchez who had singled. The Lady Cavs rebounded in the bottom of the first with three runs to take a 3-1 lead.


After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Bengals re-took the lead scoring four runs, starting with Hayley McCall doubling in Sanchez who had reached on her second hit of the game, followed by a Chasity Gary walk. With Gary and McCall on base, Ashley Parr hit her third home run in two games.


Bossier answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, taking back the lead. The Lady Bengals added a run in the fifth after Gary singled, McCall walked, and Parr singled, Cat Danos then greeted the new pitcher with a walk of her own, scoring Lauren Matte who was pinch running for Gary.


The Lady Cavs added another run in the bottom of the sixth before the Lady Bengals got three in the top of the seventh to again take the lead.


Danos starting things off in the seventh, reaching on a hit by pitch, with Stacey Sutton replacing her as pinch runner. Lanie Hollier then stroked a two-run homerun, followed by Chaney Trahan reaching on a walk then scoring when Sanchez doubled for her third hit of the game.


Unfortunately the Cavs rallied in the bottom of the inning to take the 10-9 win.


In the second game, Stacey Sutton took the circle for the Lady Bengals and improved her record to 11-0 while limiting the Lady Cavs to 1 hit, 1 walk and no runs.


The Lady Bengals took the early lead in the second inning on a lead-off home run by Gary, her third of the season.


In the fourth inning, Hayley Sanchez singled with one out, followed by a double by Gary. McCall then reached on a wild throw, with Sanchez and Gary scoring on the play.


The game remained at 3-0 and the Lady Bengals walked away with another win.
