Lady Bengals Drop Season Opener
Box Score EUNICE – The Lady Bengal Basketball team fell in their season opener 64-52 to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
A lackluster first half was too much for LSU Eunice to overcome despite outscoring Gulf Coast 34-26 in the second half. The Lady Bengals shot less than ten percent from the floor in the opening period which helped Mississippi roll out to 38-18 halftime lead.
Shakil Babino (Beaumont, Tx, West Brook HS) led LSU Eunice is scoring, finishing with 18 points. She was 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
Mia Melvin (Mamou, La, Mamou HS) had 10 points, including 2 three-pointers.
Melissa Bridges (Indian Bayou, La., North Vermilion HS) finished with 9 points.
The Lady Bengals hope to rebound against San Jacinto College this Friday in the Baton Rouge Community College Tournament.
