Bengals Win Season Opener
Friday February 11th, Eunice, LA – The LSU Eunice baseball team (1-0) won their season opener tonight at Bengal Stadium. The Bengals defeated Wharton County Junior College from Wharton, TX by a score of 4-2.
Andrew Reeves of Parkview Baptist (1-0) picked up the win pitching four innings, allowing five hits and one run while walking two and striking out two. A trio of relievers in Luke Creech (Airline High School), Kaleb Manuel (Mamou), and Wet Delatte (St. Amant) held the Pioneers to three hits over the final five innings. Delatte earned the save pitching a perfect ninth inning.
Offensively, Dalton Herrington (Minden) went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Sam Carriere (Destrehan) and Tyler Theriot (Sam Houston) had a hit apiece and each scored one run. The other two runs were scored by Jacque Fruge (Eunice) and Hommy Rosado (Barbe).
The two teams meet again tomorrow night, Saturday February 12th at 6 pm at Bengal Stadium for game two of the three game weekend series. Sunday’s game three is slated for 1 pm.
