Benagls Win Two On The Day
Thursday March 10th, Eunice, LA – The LSU Eunice baseball team (14-4) won both games of a doubleheader today against Kellogg Community College from Battle Creek Michigan.
The Bengals prevailed in the first game by a score of 17-10. Hayden Saucier (1-0) of Comeaux High School picked up his first win of the season pitching in relief of starter Luke Creech (Airline). Saucier pitched one inning, allowing one hit and no runs with no walks and two strikeouts. Tanner Olinde (Catholic Pointe Coupee) finished game on the mound pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and no runs with one walk and six strikeouts.
LSU Eunice hitters totaled 19 hits, including four homeruns, with six different guys recording multiple hits. Matt Richard (East Ascension) went 3-for-3 with a homerun, a double, two runs scored and two RBI’s. Hommy Rosado (Barbe) was 2-for-5 with a homerun and a double and four RBI’s.
In game two, the Bengals topped the Bruins 5-1. Tyler Venable (2-0) (Rayne) earned the win pitching 5 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and one run with two walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Theriot (Sam Houston) came on in relief of Venable to record his first save of the season. Theriot pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing no hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Richard went 3-for-3 two runs scored and three stolen bases and Rosado added a hit and two RBI’s. That concludes the four games between LSU Eunice and Kellogg.
Tomorrow, Friday March 11th, Kellogg will play against Texarkana College from Texarkana, TX at 1 pm at Bengal Stadium. That game will be followed by a 4 pm game between Texarkana and LSU Eunice.
