The LSU Eunice Lady Bengal Softball started the season 0-2 after falling to San Jacinto Junior College in their opening weekend. They’ve since won 24 of their last 27 games and went on a record setting 20-game win streak.
After falling to Blinn College in the opening week of February, the girls knocked off 20 straight wins and outscored their opponents 142- 42.
Lamar State College last week ended the Lady Bengal’s run with a 2-1 victory over them in the second game of a doubleheader in Port Arthur, Texas.
The girls rebounded by knocking off Alvin Community College 5-4 and 9-3 in action here last week.
Alvin took the early lead in game one, but LSU Eunice used a big third inning to move out in front. The Lady Bengals added runs in the fifth and recorded the 5-4 win.
Haley McCall went 2-for-3 for the Lady Bengals. She finished with two doubles and scored two runs. Leah Andrus drove in three RBIs.
Heather Abshire pitched for 6.1 innings, struck out four and picked up her tenth win of the season.
In game two of the doubleheader, The Lady Bengals put away Alvin early, using a six-run second inning. LSU Eunice added runs in the fourth and fifth innings to win 9-3.
Tina Schulz (8-3) earned the win, going the distance and striking out nine Alvin batters.
McCall went 1-for-4 with four RBI and scored two runs, while Logane Fuselier went 2-for-4 with a home run.
