Lady Bengals Add Two More Wins
The Lady Bengal Softball team reached 29 wins on the season by knocking off Mississippi Gulf Coast in action here Tuesday. LSU Eunice picked off Gulf Coast in both games of the doubleheader.
Gulf Coast was ranked 12th in the country in the NJCAA pre-season poll.
In game one, LSU Eunice beat Mississippi 6-1. Gulf Coast jumped out to 1-0 lead in the first, but the Lady Bengals added runs in the first and third to pull out in front.
Abshire (11-1) went the distance, striking out five and allowing one run.
Logane Fuselier (Oberlin,LA, Oberlin High School) led the Lady Bengals in batting. She finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two hits and 2 RBIs.
Game two remained scoreless until LSUE took the lead in the bottom of the 8th inning and picked up the 2-1 win.
Tina Schulz (Spring, TX, Oak Ridge High School) (9-3) finished with the win. She struck out three and allowed just two hits and one run.
Ashley Taylor (Breaux Bridge, LA, Teurlings Catholic High School) went 2-for-3 and Abshire was 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Haley McCall (Grand Chenier, LA, South Cameron HS) finished 1-for-3 and an RBI.
