Bengals Sweep Doubleheader
Saturday March 19th, Eunice, LA – The #2 ranked LSU Eunice baseball team (21-4) won both games of a doubleheader today against Mississippi Gulf Coast.
The Bengals won the first game by a score of 13-3. Andrew Reeves (4-0) of Parkview Baptist earned the win pitching six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs, one earned, with two walks and two strikeouts. Josh Burris (Scottlandville) came on in relief of Reeves and pitched two innings, allowing two hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.
Richard Bain (Trinity Christian, FL) led LSU Eunice offensively going 3-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI’s. Matt Richard (East Ascension) added two hits going 2-for-3 with a run scored, two RBI’s, and two stolen bases. Hommy Rosado (Barbe) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI’s, and his third homerun of the season.
In the second game, LSU Eunice won 7-4. Tanner Olinde (2-0) (Catholic Pointe Coupee) picked up the win in relief of starter Luke Creech (Airline). Olinde pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing no hits and no runs. Kaleb Manuel (Mamou) pitched a perfect seventh inning for his fifth save of the season. At the plate,
Rosado was 1-for-3 with his fourth homerun of the season. Zac Hawkins (Northlake Christian) and Sam Carriere (Destrehan) each had one hit and one RBI.
