Pensacola downs LSU Eunice, Bengals defeat Wildcats
Saturday April 9th, Poplarville, MS - The #1 ranked LSU Eunice baseball team (28-8) lost their first game of the day against Pensacola State College by a score of 4-3.
Andrew Reeves (4-3) of Parkview Baptist suffered the defeated pitching 5 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts. Josh Sims pitched the final 1 1/3 innings allowing a hit and an unearned run with no walks and three strikeouts.
At the plate, Dalton Herrington (Minden) and Matt Richard (East Ascension) had two hits apiece. Herrington went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base and Richard went 2-for-2 with an RBI and two stolen bases.
In their second game of the day, the Bengals defeated Pearl River Community College 13-2.
Brady Wilson (6-0) of Parkview Baptist threw all six innings, allowing five hits and two runs with one walk and five strikeouts.
Offensively, Herrington added two more hits wih two runs scored and an RBI. Zac Hawkins (Northlake Christian) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Jacque Fruge (Eunice) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
LSU Eunice plays again tomorrow in New Orleans against Delgado Community College. The doubleheader is set to begin at 4 pm at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
