Begnals Sweep DH Against Tyler
Saturday April 16th, Eunice, LA – The #2 ranked LSU Eunice baseball team (33-11) defeated Tyler Junior College from Tyler, TX in both games of a doubleheader today.
The Bengals won the first game 9-3.
Andrew Reeves (5-3) of Parkview Baptist got the win pitching five innings, allowing six hits and one run with six walks and six strikeouts. Chad Miller (Sulphur) relieved Reeves and pitched four innings, allowing four hits and two runs; one earned, with no walks and four strikeouts.
Offensively, six different hitters collected multiple hits led by Jacque Fruge (Eunice) who went 3-for-3 with a homerun and three RBI’s. Zac Hawkins (Northlake Christian) also had three hits as he went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. Dalton Herrington (Minden) went 2-for-5 with a homerun and Wet Delatte (St. Amant) also added a homerun and three RBI’s.
In the second game, LSU Eunice won by a score of 4-3 in 10 innings.
Ben Carter (Parkview Baptist) started on the mound and pitched four innings, allowing six hits and two runs with one walk an no strikeouts in receiving a no decision. Luke Creech (1-3) (Airline) picked up the win as he pitched a scoreless tenth inning, allowing one hit and two walks with three strikeouts.
Herrington led the offense going 4-for-6 with two doubles and a homerun. Hawkins added two more hits and Hommy Rosado (Barbe) went 2-for-3. Sam Carriere (Destrehan) hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the tenth to score Stuart Turner (Eunice) and end the game.
