LSU Eunice Sweeps Doubleheader

th, Eunice, LA – The #3 ranked LSU Eunice baseball team (2-0) won both games of a double header today against Bossier Parish Community College to open their 2012 season. In the first game, the Bengals won by a 5-4 score. Starter Brady Domangue (Vandebilt Cath) pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and three runs, two earned, with one walk and seven strikeouts. Will Bacon (Parkview Baptist) relieved Domangue and pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and one run with no walks and three strikeouts. Jared Dye (Mangham) (1-0) picked up the win pitching a scoreless eighth inning, and Patrick Michon (Porter, TX) pitched a perfect ninth inning for his first save.
Offensively, Drew Forbes (Denham Springs) went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Casey Rodrigue (Brother Martin) and Garrett Deschamp (Parkview Baptist) both went 2-for-4 with and RBI apiece. Buddy McCoy (Haughton) had an RBI on his first homerun of the season.
In game two, LSU Eunice won 10-9. Starter Brady Wilson (Parkview Baptist) went four innings, allowing five hits and two runs with no walks and two strikeouts. Chad Miller (Sulphur) (1-0) got the win in relief pitching 1 2/3 innings allowing two hits and one unearned run with one walk and one strikeout. Cody Rider (Sam Houston) pitched around a lead-off double in the ninth inning by striking out the next three batters to pick up the save.
At the plate, four different Bengals collected two hits each in Rodrigue, Dalton Herrington (Minden), Sam Carriere (Destrehan), and Deschamp. Herrington went 2-for-2 with a homerun and four RBI’s, and Deschamp added a homerun and two RBI’s.
The next scheduled game for the Bengals is Friday February 3
rd against North Lake Community College from Irving, TX. The single nine inning game is set to begin at 6 pm.
