LSUEBengals.net sat down with sophomore pitcher Zac Person to get to know him a little better, asking him a variety of questions to learn about the Eunice, Louisiana native. “10 Questions With” is a continuing feature right here on your home for Bengal Athletics.

In his freshman season, Person compiled a 7-0 record over 10 appearances with 1.71ERA. In his 31.2 innings of work, he allowed just 19 hits and six runs, all earned, while striking out 45 batters and holding opponents to just a .174 batting average.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Assuming things work out as planned, in ten years I will be an Orthopedic Surgeon.

What is one item you must take with you on road trips?
On every road trip I have to bring headphones and my phone, and sometimes my laptop.  Whatever I need to make sure I have access to my music.

Do you have any nicknames, how did you get it?
I really don’t have a nickname, but some of the guys on the team call me “P” so maybe that can count as one…

Who is your biggest role model?
I can chalk most of my success up to the encouragement my older brother Lance provides, both through our talks and by his own example, so he is definitely my biggest role model.

What is your favorite part about your sport?
As a pitcher you have the ability to win a game or lose a game based on your performance.  I also like how every pitch is a competition in itself.  Those two add a certain feeling to being a pitcher that I feel no other position or sport can offer.

What is the best class you've taken at LSU Eunice?
That’s difficult. As a student, you’ve got to love when Professor Baltakis begins telling his stories… But my most interesting class is probably the Physics Lab that I am taking right now. However, creating that scholarship during the seminar class last spring was one of the coolest projects that I have ever completed.  So I don’t know, one of those.

What do you love most about LSU Eunice?
I really like the atmosphere of being in a town like Eunice.  It’s a real homelike atmosphere that only the people in Eunice can provide.  I also can’t complain about the free meals and the lack of bills that come with staying at home for an extra two years.

Why did you choose to come to LSU Eunice?
LSUE offers a good education, and there is no other program that can give me the same opportunity of winning multiple National Championships.

What is one thing you want to happen before you leave LSU Eunice?
The most important goal before I leave is being able to repeat National Championships for the first time in our program’s history. The team we have definitely has the ability to break our “odd-year curse”, and the 2013 season will be when we prove it.

How do you want people at LSU Eunice to remember you?
I want to be remembered here as a guy who was liked by many and knew how to have fun, but more importantly as a guy who didn’t allow anything to distract me from accomplishing my goals.
