Lady Bengals prepared for a pair of games in Missouri
Fresh off a 10 hour bus ride, the LSU Eunice Lady Bengal basketball team is ready for one of its’ toughest tests of the young season as they prepare to take on Crowder College on Friday night and then collide with North Arkansas College on Saturday afternoon in the Don Wilson Classic hosted by Crowder College.
“We have a big weekend ahead of us as Crowder and North Arkansas are both 5-1 on the season. Both teams present different styles to we will see how our team will do facing adversity and adjustment,” head coach
Michael Bari said.
The Lady Bengals (3-0) just missed out on cracking the first NJCAA Division I Top 25 national poll that was released on Wednesday. That poll does not factor in LSUE’s win Monday night over Mississippi Gulf Coast, who made the rankings at No. 23. The Lady Bengals received 25 points, the highest for any team in the “Receiving Votes” category. Blinn College, who was ranked No. 25, received 27 points.
Next week’s poll will include the Lady Bengal’s win over MGCCC in addition to this weekend’s games in Missouri.
Crowder College
Crowder College comes into tonight’s matchup with a 5-1 record on the season and on a three-game winning streak. They are averaging just under 75 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor, but just 32.6 percent from three-point range, through their first six games.
The defense of Crowder is allowing 53 points/game while holding opponents to 35 percent shooting from the floor and three-point line.
Terai Sadler leads Crowder College in scoring, averaging 19.3 points/game, while Sarah Sagely (15.8/game), Veronica Amos (11.3/game) and Camila Lacerda (10.3/game) are all in double-digits scoring as well.
Sadler also leads Crowder on the boards, averaging 14 rebounds/game, while Lacerda’s 5.5 assist/game is best on the team.
North Arkansas College
North Arkansas College comes into this weekend’s games ranked No. 14 in the initial NJCAA Division II poll with a 5-1 record. They average just 46.3 points/game but are holding opponents to only 35 points/game. North Arkansas shoots 40.4 percent from the floor and 25.8 percent from three-point range while grabbing 27.7 rebounds/game.
Defensively, North Arkansas is holding opponents to 32.2 percent shooting from the floor and only 19.7 percent from behind the three-point line.
Janna Case leads North Arkansas in scoring, averaging 10.4 points/game, the only player to average double-digits. Case also leads North Arkansas in rebounding, averaging eight rebounds/game, while Destiny Prochaska’s 4.4 assist/game leads the team in that category.
