Lady Bengals welcome regional rival San Jacinto to town Tuesday night
The LSU Eunice women’s basketball team will look to shake off a two-game losing streak when they welcome regional rival San Jacinto College to town on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. tip.
“Tonight is a big game for the Lady Bengals as we need to get back on track and use this home game to wash away a bad weekend in Missouri,” head coach
Michael Bari said.
“We match up well with San Jacinto so it should be a good game,” he added.
In their first true road tests of the season, the Lady Bengals (3-2) dropped a pair of games over the weekend in Missouri in the Don Wilson Classic, falling to tournament host Crowder College 94-71 on Friday night and slipping to North Arkansas by a 79-69 score.
Against Crowder, all five Lady Bengal starters tallied double-digit scoring nights, with Meghan Cross leading the way with a 15-point effort. Lida Politopoulou finished with 14 points, while Taylor Hurd tallied 13 points for her stat line. Chesley Dubroc notched 12 points and Brooke Richard finished with 10 points as well.
In the North Arkansas game, LSU Eunice finished with three players in double figures, with Hurd leading the way with a 24-point afternoon. Cross finished with 20 points and Politopoulou added 17 points in the loss.
Through five games, Cross leads the Lady Bengals in scoring, averaging 16.6 points per game, while Politopoulou is averaging 16 points/ game.
San Jacinto comes into tonight’s matchup with a 3-4 record after splitting a pair of games over the weekend when they hosted the San Jac Classic. On Friday night they defeated Baton Rouge Community College 62-52 before falling to Southern-Shreveport 85-74 on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bengals are 10-11 in their all-time series with San Jacinto coming into tonight’s matchup.
