Lady Bengals ready to host back-to-back contests this weekend
The LSU Eunice Lady Bengal basketball team will look to get back to its’ winning ways this weekend when they host a pair of contests, beginning with Angelina College on Friday night before squaring off against Dodge City Community College on Saturday night.
The Lady Bengals (3-4) are in the midst of a four-game losing streak after opening the season winning their first three matchups of the year.
It will be the first time LSU Eunice has squared off against either of this weekend’s opponents since the 2008-2009 season, when they hosted both Angelina and Dodge City inside the HPRE Center.
Angelina College will come into tonight’s matchup with a 5-5 record overall, but just a 1-5 mark on the road, this season. In their past two games, Angelina College has held both opponents under 50 points and will come into Eunice with a defensive-minded approach.
“Angelina will be our toughest opponent so far this season, so it’s important for our team to be more effective on the offensive end and defensively, contest every shot and rebound the ball for us to have a chance to win,” head coach
Michael Bari said.
LSU Eunice holds a 1-14 all-time record against Angelina College heading into tonight’s matchup.
Dodge City Community College will also come into Saturday’s matchup with a 5-5 overall record, with their last matchups coming back on Nov. 23 and 24 at the Hutchinson Classic. They defeated to Iowa Lakes Community College 63-49 before falling to Independence Community College by a 65-54 score.
“Dodge City has turned their program around under Coach Lucas and will present many challenges to our team. Our team is going to have to step up and handle the back-to-back games and give 40 minutes of great effort both nights,” Bari said.
In their only other meeting all-time, Dodge City beat the Lady Bengals.
