LSU Eunice Defeats Pearl River

 Tuesday February 21st, Eunice, LA – The #3 ranked LSU Eunice baseball team (10-0) won both games of a doubleheader today against Pearl River Community College.  The Bengals topped the Wildcats by a 5-2 score in the first game. 

Starting pitcher Brady Wilson (Parkview Baptist) threw five innings, allowing seven hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Wilson was relieved by Will Bacon (Parkview Baptist) who got the win (2-0) pitching three innings, allowing one hit and no runs with one walk and two strikeouts.  Brady Domangue (Vandebilt Catholic) pitched a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the season. 

The Bengals we led offensively by Marc Picciola (St. Charles Catholic) who went 2-for-2 with two RBI’s and one run scored.  Stuart Turner (Eunice) added two RBI’s going 1-for-4. 

In the second game, LSU Eunice won 2-1. 

Cody Boutte (NISH) started for the Bengals pitching 5 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and one run with four walks and four strikeouts.  Tanner Olinde (Catholic Pointe Coupee) got the final out of the sixth inning before Jared Dye (Mangham) pitched the seventh.  Dye (3-0) allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two batters and received the win. 

At the plate, Casey Rodrigue (Brother Martin) went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Adam Angelle went 1-for-4 with an RBI on the game winning hit in the bottom of the seventh. 

The next games for the Bengals will be in a tournament at Chipola College in Marianna, FL beginning on Friday February 24th.
