LSU Eunice Sweeps North Lake

th, Eunice, LA – The LSU Eunice baseball team (5-0) completed a three game sweep of North Lake Community College today by winning both games of the doubleheader.
The Bengals won the first game 7-5 in the scheduled nine inning contest.
Brady Wilson (Parkview Baptist) (1-0) pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run with no walks and six strikeouts to earn the win. Jared Dye (Mangham) pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Patrick Michon (Porter, TX) had two strikeouts while pitching a perfect ninth inning for his second save of the season.
At the plate, Sam Carriere, Stuart Turner, and Adam Angelle collected two hits each to lead the way. Carriere (Destrehan) went 2-for-5 with a run scored, Turner (Eunice) went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s, and Angelle (Teurlings Catholic) went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, two runs scored, and one RBI.
LSU Eunice won the second game 6-5 in 14 innings for the contest that was scheduled for seven innings.
Starting pitcher Cody Boutte (NISH) pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run with one walk and six strikeouts. Reliever Marc Picciola (St. Charles Catholic) went five innings, allowing five hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts. Tyler Venable (Rayne) (1-0) pitched a scoreless 14
th inning to pick up the win.
Offensively, Dalton Herrington (Minden) went 2-for-6 with two stolen bases, one run scored, one RBI and a double. Garrett Deshamp (Parkview Baptist) and Buddy McCoy (Haughton) had two hits each. Deschamp tallied an RBI and McCoy had one run scored.
The next scheduled contest for the Bengals is set for Friday February 10
th at 6 pm at Bengal Stadium. That will begin a three game series with St. Charles Community College from Cottelville, MO.
