LSU Eunice Sweeps St. Charles

 Tuesday March 13th, Sulphur, LA – The LSU Eunice baseball team (22-2) won both games of a doubleheader today against St. Charles Community College from Cottleville, MO. 
 
In the first game, the Bengals won by a 9-1 score. 
 
Kirk Savoy (Holy Savior Menard) (2-1) started on the mound pitching six innings, allowing three hits and one unearned run with two walks and six strikeouts.  A trio of relievers in Justin Desselle (Crowley), Josh Sims (LaSalle), and Tyler Venable (Rayne) each threw one inning, allowing one hit apiece while holding the Cougars scoreless.
 
At the plate, Adam Angelle (Teurlings Catholic) paced the Bengals going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, a grand slam, and five RBI’s.  Stuart Turner (Eunice) and Landon Thibodeaux (Central) each went 2-for-3 with Turner tallying a double.  Dalton Herrington (Minden) added two RBI’s on his fourth homerun of the season.   
 
LSU Eunice won the second game 4-0.  Starting pitcher Zac Person (Eunice) (3-0) went four innings, allowing three hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Again, a trio of relievers in Cody Rider (Sam Houston), Chad Miller (Sulphur), and Patrick Michon (Porter, TX) held St. Charles scoreless over the final three innings. 
 
Chuck Tillery (Starkville, MS) led the way offensively going 2-for-2 with a run scored.  Herrington hit another two-run homerun; his fifth of the season.  Justin Schopp had the Bengals other hit, going 1-for-2 with a single. 
 
The next scheduled game for the Bengals is Thursday March 15th at 6:00 PM at Bengal Stadium against St. Louis Community College – Meramec.
