Lady Bengals split with NJCAA D1 #5 ranked Blinn College
Lady Bengals (40-6) split with NJCAA D1 #5 ranked Blinn College, 4-3 and 1-4.
In game one Saturday's doubleheader Lady Bengals use a three run fifth inning to come back from a
two run deficit to get on top of Blinn College 3-2. In the top of the seventh inning Blinn came back to
tie it up 3-3, in the bottom of the seventh the Lady Bengals rallied back and pushed across
one run to defeat Blinn 4-3. The Lady Bengals offense was led by Brooke Ort who went 3-4 with two
runs scored, and Tina Schulz going 2-4 and hitting in the winning run.
Schulz also held down the Lady Bengals defense in the circle, pitching the full seven innings only giving
up three runs and collecting seven strike outs.
Blinn jumped out to a one run lead in the second game, the Lady Bengals came back to tie it up
in the bottom of the third. In the top of the sixth Blinn pulled ahead of the Lady Bengals leaving
the score 4-1, the Lady Bengals had a chance to come back in the bottom of the sixth but could not
push the runs across leaving the bases loaded. Offensively the Lady Bengals collected six hits led
by catcher Emily Trahan going 2-2.
Kaylee Guidry started in the circle for the Lady Bengals, pitching five and a third innings. Tina Schulz
came in to finish the game for the Bengals pitching two and two third innings.
Monday's game against Lamar State has been postponed, Lady Bengals will be back in action next Wednesday at BRCC
