LSU Eunice Defeats Meridian in Game 1

 Thursday April 5th, Eunice, LA – The LSU Eunice baseball team (33-3) defeated Meridian Community College from Meridian, MS tonight 5-4. 

Jared Dye (Mangham) relieved starting pitcher Kirk Savoy (Holy Savior Menard) in the third inning and pitched four innings, allowing four hits and one run with two walks and five strikeouts.  Zac Person (Eunice) replaced Dye in the seventh and went two innings, allowing no hits and no runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Patrick Michon (Porter, TX) pitched the ninth, allowing one base runner; via hit by pitch, to earn his 10th save of the season. 
 
Dalton Herrington (Minden) led the offense going 3-for-4 with a single, a double, a stolen base, and a three run homerun; his seventh of the season.  Three other Bengals had multiple hits as each player went 2-for-4, in Sam Carriere (Destrehan), Stuart Turner (Eunice), and Landon Thibodeaux (Central).  Carriere and Thibodeaux added one RBI each, with Thibodeaux’s coming off of a two out single in the bottom of the eight to plate Turner score the eventual game-winning run. 
 
The same two teams will meet again tomorrow, April 6th at 6:00 PM at Bengal Stadium in game two of their three-game series.
