Lady Bengals make it to Regional Championship
Lady Bengals (48-9) beat Jones County JC and Northeast Mississippi on day two of the Regional tournament.
In the first game of day two of the Regional tournament the Lady Bengals jumped out to a quick two run lead in the first two innings of play. Jones answered back with one run in the top of the fourth, but the Lady Bengals rallied back in the bottom of the fourth scoring two more runs to clinch the 4-1 victory. Offensively the Lady Bengals were led by Brooke Ort going 2-3 with two runs scored and Emily Trahan who went 2-3 with one RBI.
Tina Schulz started the game for the Bengals in the circle, going three and a quarter inning, giving up one run and four hits. Kaylee Guidry came in relief for Schulz closing out the game for the Lady Bengals, pitching three and two thirds innings, giving up no runs and collecting three strike outs.
The Lady Bengals bats came alive in the second game against Northeast Mississippi, racking up 14 hits as a team and five Lady Bengals having a multi hit game, led by Tina Schulz going 3-4 with one run scored and three RBIs, Kelsey Hollier going 2-4 with two runs scored, and Taylor Simon who went 2-4 with one run and two RBIs.
Kaylee Guidry pitched the complete second game for the Bengals, only giving up two hits and collecting six strike outs. The Lady Bengals gave up no errors behind Guidry in the 9-0 victory.
The Lady Bengals are in the championship game of the Regional tournament tomorrow at 12:00 PM
