Conference road contest awaits Lady Bengals in Mississippi

Fresh off opening their first-ever conference game and an opening win, the LSU Eunice Lady Bengals will look to keep their momentum going when they travel to Meridian Community College on Saturday afternoon.

The game will be the second Miss-Lou Conference game for the Lady Bengals (5-11 overall, 1-0 MISS-LOU), while Meridian comes in to the matchup 11-6 overall and 1-1 in conference play after falling to Southern-Shreveport on Wednesday night.

“Meridian has as great women’s basketball tradition and we have a challenging task ahead, traveling to their home court and winning,” head coach Michael Bari said.

“We will have to play extremely well to notch our second conference win of the season,” he added.

On Wednesday night, Brooke Richard tied her career-high with a 17 point effort to pace the Lady Bengals in their win over Delgado on the road.

A pair of Lady Bengals notched double-doubles, with Lida Politopoulou finishing the night with 11 points and 10 assists, while Taylor Hurd grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with her 11 points. Meghan Cross led all players with a game-high 11 rebounds, while adding seven points. Chesley Dubroc also contributed a solid effort, grabbing nine rebounds and scoring eight points of her own.

Tomorrow afternoon’s game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tipoff and can be seen on Bengal All-Access and heard over the airwaves on KVPI 92.5 FM.
