The LSU Eunice women’s basketball team will look to end its long road trip with a win when they take on Baton Rouge Community College on Wednesday night in Miss-Lou Conference action.

The 6 p.m. tipoff will be the Lady Bengals’ seventh consecutive road contest, and their third straight to open conference play.

LSU Eunice (5-12 overall, 1-1 Miss-Lou Conference) comes into the game with three players averaging double-digit scoring numbers, led by Lida Politopoulou’s 16.5 points/game. Taylor Hurd is averaging 13.0 points/game and Meghan Cross averages 12.8 points/game to also help pace the Lady Bengals.

Baton Rouge (10-6, 2-0) has three players averaging over eight points per game.

“Tonight is a big game for us. With a win, we will be tied for first place in the conference,” head coach Michael Bari said.

“We must play smarter and harder on both ends of the floor tonight,” he added.

In the Lady Bengals loss at Meridian on Saturday, they shot only 35 percent from the field and gave away 30 turnovers (24 steals) in the 13-point defeat.

Politopoulou led LSU Eunice with 19 points, adding four assists and four steals in the loss. Chesley Dubroc notched 15 points inside, grabbing nine rebounds as well. Cross finished with the game’s only double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds, while Hurd filled her stat line with 11 points, five assists and four rebounds. Brooke Richard added two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Bengals, adding 10 rebounds as well.

This will be the first of three games between LSU Eunice and Baton Rouge this season, close natural rivals who are now also conference foes. The two teams have split their all-time series to date, with three wins apiece, including going 1-1 last season with the teams each winning on their home floor.

Tonight’s game can be seen on Bengal All-Access and heard over the airwaves on KVPI 92.5 FM.
