The LSU Eunice women's basketball team shook off a sluggish start to pull away with a 74-46 victory over visiting Southwestern Christian College on Friday night.

A three-point game with just over seven minutes remaining in the first half, the Lady Bengals (7-1) extended the lead out to 14 at the break before pushing the lead as high as 32 points in the second stanza before the eventual 28-point margin of victory.

"Tonight was a good win for us. We were able to get a lot of players in and work on some things. Overall, we gave a good effort; we were finally able to put a team away and that's been a little bit of our issue," head coach Yolanda Moore said after the game.

"We were able to get our girls to understand about being patient on offense. It was a fun win and good for the girls to be able to come out and have some success," Moore added.

As a team, LSUE finished the night shooting 41 percent (26-for-63) from the floor and 30 percent (3-10) from three-point range, while making 66 percent (19-29) of their free throw attempts.

The Lady Bengals grabbed just seven offensive rebounds, but crashed the defensive boards, finishing with 26 rebounds defensively. They added 23 steals and 14 assists as a team on the night.

Sophomores Reagan Maricle and Baylie Lee each finished with 15 points to lead the LSUE offense, with Lee (4 rebounds, 2 steals) scoring 10 of her points in the first half and Reagan Maricle (3 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist) adding 11 of her points in the second half.

Brooke Richard finished her night with 12 points, adding five steals, while fellow sophomore Taylor Maricle notched 10 points and added seven rebounds, six assists and two steals to fill her stat line.

Kelsey Thibodeaux and Ashlyn Wiemann each scored six points in the win, with Wiemann adding two rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot and Thibodeaux finishing with three rebounds and three steals.

Taylor Hurd (4 rebounds, 2 steals) and McKayla Willie (2 rebounds, 1 assist) each added five points, while Meghan Cross (5 steals, 4 rebounds) and Taylor Holzmeier (3 steals, 1 assist) each notched a point to round out the scoring.

The Lady Bengals and Southwest Christian College are back in action tomorrow afternoon in a 2 p.m. tipoff. Tomorrow's game can be seen on Bengal All-Access.
