Lady Bengals push past Coastal Bend in Saturday action
The LSU Eunice women's basketball team overcame a sluggish start to come away with a 81-67 win on the road against Coastal Bend College on Saturday afternoon.
LSU Eunice (11-1) shot 44 percent (30-for-68) from the floor in the victory, adding a 56 percent (15-27) effort from the free throw line.
A close game throughout, the Lady Bengals took a 16-point lead into halftime, opening the lead to as high as 23 points before the final 14-point margin.
Sophomore Meghan Cross finished with 20 points for LSU Eunice, adding 11 rebounds. Fellow sophomore Reagan Maricle tallied 13 points and notched four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists in the win as well.
Kelsey Thibodeaux finished with 12 points off the bench to round out the double-digit scoring, adding seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. Brooke Richard and Misha Mouton each contributed eight points off the bench, with Richard adding five rebounds and four steals.
Sophomore Taylor Maricle notched seven points in the win, adding five rebounds and five assists to go with three steals. Baylie Lee finished with six points and four rebounds, while Ashlyn Wiemann, Taylor Hurd and McKayla Willie each had two points to finish off the Lady Bengal scoring.
Brianna Williams finished with 21 points for Coastal Bend to lead all scorers.
The Lady Bengals take a break for the holidays before returning back home for a pair of games against Lincoln Land Community College on December 29 and 30. Tipoff for the Sunday contest is at 6 p.m., while the Monday afternoon game is a 2 p.m. start.
