Hot shooting pushes Lady Bengals to tenth victory Saturday
The LSU Eunice women's basketball team showed no rust on Saturday afternoon, downing visiting Coastal Bend College 84-41 following an 11-day layoff in their schedule.
The Lady Bengals moved to 10-1 on the season, and saw 12 of their 13 players score on an afternoon where they finished the game shooting 46 percent (29-for-63) from the floor as a team. They also finished shooting 73 percent (24-33) from the free throw stripe, including being perfect from the line in the second half.
"It was good to get a lot of girls in the game and work on things we have been going over. We were able to execute our offense; we put in some new things and tweaked some things, so to be able to see them come out and apply it was good," head coach Yolanda Moore said.
After the teams traded buckets in the opening minutes, Coastal Bend (0-9) fell into a nearly six minute spell in which they did not score a point, allowing the Lady Bengals to extend the lead throughout the half and take a 46-16 lead into the half.
In the second half the lead grew as high as 47 points before settling on the final, 43-point margin of victory.
Sophomore Reagan Maricle led the offensive charge and finished with 15 points, adding seven steals, six assists and four rebounds.
