Lady Bengals ready for conference road action Wednesday night
The LSU Eunice women’s basketball team will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night when they travel to Southern-University Shreveport in Miss-Lou Conference action.
The Lady Bengals (6-15 overall, 2-4 conference) are coming off a home loss on Saturday against Baton Rouge, while Southern-Shreveport (10-11, 2-5) is coming off a loss to Meridian Community College on the road.
Tonight’s game is the second of three meetings this season between LSU Eunice an Southern-Shreveport, with the Jaguars leaving Eunice with a four-point win back on Jan. 26.
“We are excited to play Southern today. We let one get away from us earlier on our home floor. The next six games are must wins for us to stay in the conference race,” head coach
Michael Bari said.
In the first meeting, Southern-Shreveport shot over 50 percent in the opening half before finishing the night 27-for-55 (49%) from the floor. The Lady Bengals shot only 25 percent in the first stanza before finishing the night 22-for-53 (41%) from the floor in the game.
The Lady Bengals were paced by a career-high 19 points from
Chesley Dubroc inside, while
Lida Politopoulou added 18 points, including four three-point baskets.
Brooke Richard scored 14 points, 12 coming in the second half to round out the LSU Eunice double-digit scorers.
Southern-Shreveport’s Triana Wilridge finished with a game-high 25 points, including five three-point baskets, in the win. Wilridge is one of three players averaging double-digit scoring for Southern-Shreveport coming into tonight’s game.
Politopoulou leads the Lady Bengals with 16.4 points per game, while
Meghan Cross (12.6 points/game) and
Taylor Hurd (12.0) are also averaging double-digits.
