The LSU Eunice softball team picked up another pair of wins on Saturday afternoon – 4-2 over Baton Rouge Community College and 5-0 over St. Charles Community College - to sweep their weekend schedule and improve to 12-2 on the season.

In the morning game against Baton Rouge, the Lady Bengals rode the performance of freshman starting pitcher Julienne Broussard, who tossed a complete game, allowing five hits and both runs while striking out six batters.

LSU Eunice jumped on the board in the second inning, when Brooke Clark and Taylor Simon connected on back-to-back doubles into the gaps to score the first run before Randi Vosburg stepped in and sent a two-run homer over the center field wall.

After seeing Baton Rouge add single runs in the third and fifth, the Lady Bengals responded with the game’s final run in the bottom of the fifth when Brooke Thomas led off with a single, stole second base and scored on Emily Nolan’s RBI single.

Thomas finished with the only two-hit game offensively, while Codi Covington joined Nolan, Clark, Simon and Vosburg with one hit.

In the afternoon game, the Lady Bengals saw Brooklyn Guillot handle St. Charles' lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts, giving up just three hits over three shutout innings.

Elizabeth Delafield recorded the win LSU Eunice after getting the start and pitching four shutout innings, striking out one, walking none and surrendering just three hits.

The Lady Bengals scored their first run in the third inning before adding four runs in the fourth to grab their third win in two days over St. Charles.

Kelsey Hollier singled in the third before coming around and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Nolan, before coming up again in the fourth and connecting on a two-run homer to left field to cap the game’s scoring.

Caitlen Blanchard joined Hollier with a two-hit game, while Clark, Broussard, Morgan Tauzin and Brooke Rozas each had one hit.

The Lady Bengals hit the road on Tuesday for a doubleheader at Bossier Parish Community College that will begin at 2 p.m.

Tuesday’s game can be seen on Bengal All-Access.
