The LSU Eunice baseball team pounded out 14 hits in their series-opening 6-0 win on the road against Tyler Junior College on Friday night.

Despite leaving nine runners on base throughout the night, the Bengals (25-3) saw two players notch three-hit nights and another two finish with two hits as the LSU Eunice pitching staff held Tyler (20-9) to just five total hits.

LSU Eunice scored twice in the opening inning before adding their third run in the second inning. Both sides saw zeros on the scoreboard until the Bengals added one run in the eighth and two final runs in the ninth inning.

Casey Rodrigue also scored once in addition to his three hits, while Stefan Trosclair finished with an RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases with his three-hit night.

Garrett Deschamp finished with two hits, both doubles, while Evan Powell saw one of his two hits go for a double as well while he picked up an RBI.

Trent Vidrine and Tyler Chapman each finished 1-for-4 with an RBI, while Derek Herrington and Landon Thibodeaux also added a hit each.

Chad Reeves improved to 6-0 on the season after seven strong innings, allowing four hits and just one walk while striking out 10 Tyler batters.

Trae Hester wrapped up the final two innings, giving up one hit and adding one strikeout.

Rodrigue led off the game with a double into left-center field before scoring on Trosclair’s single up the middle to open the scoring before Trosclair advanced around the bases and later scored on a double steal.

The second inning began the same way the first did, with Deschamp leading off with a double before advancing to third on a groundout and then crossing the plate on a balk.

In the eighth, Ray Veit reached on an error before coming around to score on a dropped pop-up later in the inning.

The ninth inning saw Trosclair double to leadoff the inning before scoring on Powell’s RBI single. Powell would come around to score the game’s final run after stealing second base and scoring on Vidrine’s RBI single.
