The LSU Eunice softball team continued its’ recent hot streak, rolling to a doubleheader sweep of visiting Bossier Parish Community College on Monday afternoon.

The opening game was scoreless through three innings before the Lady Bengals (44-4) used a three-run homer from Ashley Subervielle to propel themselves to a 5-0 win. Game two saw the hosts send 10 batters to the plate as part of a six-run first inning before coming away with an 8-0 victory.

“Our pitchers have been doing it all year and they did it again. We got hits when we needed to and capitalized on their mistakes. We put pressure on them, and when you pitch and play defense you are going to win ballgames,” head coach Andy Lee said.

In the fourth inning of the first game, the Lady Bengals saw two runners on base with one out when Subervielle connected on her shot down the right field line to give the hosts the advantage.

They would cap off the scoring with two runs in the fifth inning on a RBI single from Brooke Clark and a sacrifice fly by Taylor Simon.

Subervielle and Brooke Thomas each finished the game with two hits, while Clark, Kelsey Hollier, Emily Nolan, Pam Wainwright and Carey Alexis each notched one hit.

In the circle, Julienne Broussard earned the win after six shutout innings in which she allowed one hit while striking out three batters. Elizabeth Delafield closed out the game with a perfect seventh inning.

The second game saw Bossier Parish go through three pitchers in the first inning as the Lady Bengals used five walks, two errors, a single and a sacrifice fly to post six runs.

Brooke Rozas’ RBI single and Morgan Tauzin’s sacrifice fly notched the final two runs of the inning, before Simon doubled to lead off the second inning, advanced to third on a passed ball before scoring on a wild pitch.

The final run of the afternoon came in the third, when Tauzin doubled before being driven home on Simon’s RBI double two batters later.

Simon was the only hitter to finish with two hits, while Hollier, Subervielle, Rozas, Tauzin and Chelsea Evans each finished with one hit.  Simon, Subervielle, Rozas and Tauzin each tallied one RBI.

Brooklyn Guillot earned the win in game two after three innings of work, allowing just four hits before Delafield wrapped up the fame with two innings of work in which she allowed one hit and two walks while striking out two batters.

The Lady Bengals are back in action on Thursday afternoon when they host LSU Alexandria in a doubleheader with a 1 p.m. start.
