The LSU Eunice softball team exploded for 21 runs and five home runs while their pitching held opponents to just two hits as they grabbed a pair of wins in their opening day games in the 2014 NFCA Leadoff Classic Friday.

The Lady Bengals (17-0) took down Indian Hills Community College 9-0 in their first game before defeating Pasco Hernando State College 12-0 in their night contest.

"There is nothing negative I can say about today. We come out and win two games in five innings, hit the ball well, hit five home runs, have pitchers go out there, compete and give up two hits in two games…a great all around team effort," head coach Andy Lee said.

"I hope we can carry this over. We are playing one of the tougher teams in the tournament tomorrow to get into the championship bracket in Blinn. They are always a great program and are off to a hot start this year so we need to carry this momentum over and I am looking forward to tomorrow."

In the afternoon game against Indian Hills, Brooke Clark notched two hits, while Taylor Boulet, Emily Nolan, Ashley Subervielle, Carey Alexis and Morgan Tauzin each tallied a hit as LSU Eunice combined to draw six walks as a team as well.

Clark collected a double, while the scoring was aided Subervielle's two-run homer in the second inning, Nolan's three-run homer in the fourth frame and Tauzin's two-run single in the fifth.

Subervielle and Nolan both finished with three RBIs, while Tauzin finished with two RBIs and Boulet had an RBI of her own.

Destin Vicknair went the distance in the circle, allowing her only hit in the bottom of the fifth as she tossed five innings, walked one batter and had five strikeouts in addition to the one hit.

The Lady Bengals got on the board in the top of the first with Boulet's RBI groundout before Subevielle sent her homer to straight-away center field in the second inning.

Nolan sent her three-run homer over the wall down the right field line in the third inning, while Subervielle's sacrifice fly brought home another run in the fifth before Tauzin singled up the middle later in the inning to bring home the final two runs of the game.

The second game saw LSU Eunice plate a single run in the bottom of the first inning before scoring three runs in the second and third innings and capping the scoring off with a five-run fourth frame.

Codi Covington and Vicknair each finished with two hits, while Boulet, Clark, Subervielle, Katie Flowers and Ginny Daggett all tallied one hit.

Clark finished with three RBIs after her three-run homer in the fourth inning, Vicknair added three RBIs of her own with the help of her two-run homer, while Subervielle notched two RBIs on her second two-run homer of the afternoon. Daggett tallied two RBIs and Covington finished with an RBI as well.

Raven Cole earned the win after tossing five innings and allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out six batters.

LSU Eunice got on the board in the bottom of the first with the help of a Pasco-Hernando error before Daggett connected on a two-run single in the second inning and scored moments later on Covington's RBI single.

The third inning saw a run cross the plate on Vicknair's sacrifice fly before Subervielle sent her two-run homer over the center field wall.

Clark notched her three-run homer in the fourth inning to left-center field before Vicknair deposited her two-run homer in nearly the identical spot three batters later to finish up the day's scoring.

LSU Eunice finishes up pool play tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 EST (11:30 Central) against Blinn College before beginning bracket play later in the afternoon Saturday.
