The LSU Eunice baseball team dropped both games of its Saturday doubleheader at Chipola College on Saturday afternoon, fighting back from seven runs down before losing 12-11 in extra innings in the first game and dropping the second game by a 6-3 score.

The Bengals (16-3) plated four runs in both the eighth and ninth inning to fight back from being down from a 9-2 deficit before Chipola took the lead again with two runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth. LSU Eunice would tie the game with a run in the top of the ninth before Chipola walked off with a win on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Brennan Bozeman, Kyle St. Pierre and Ralphie McDonald each finished with two hits in the game, as St. Pierre drove home two runs, while Bozeman, Tyler Chapman (1-4), and Gabe Roberts (1-5) each collected an RBI apiece. Stefan Trosclair (1-7) and Derek Herrington (1-5) both drove home two RBIs.

With Chipola up 5-0, the Bengals cut into the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth on Robert's run-scoring single and Herrington's RBI sacrifice fly before Chipola responded with four runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth.

Trosclair's two-run double and a two-run single by St. Pierre cut the lead to three after the top of the seventh before LSU Eunice took the lead with four runs in the top of the eighth on RBI singles from Bozeman, Chapman and Herrington and a wild pitch.

The hosts again responded, plating two runs in the bottom of the eighth before the Bengals tied the game in the top of the ninth on a Chipola throwing error.

In the bottom of the 11th, Chipola used a one-out double to get a base runner in scoring position before back-to-back wild pitches plated the winning run.

O.J. Latin, the seventh pitcher of the game for LSU Eunice, was saddled with the loss after allowing the double and run to score in the 11th.

The second game of the doubleheader saw the Bengals managed just four hits in the 6-3 loss, as Bozeman, Trosclair, Chapman and Ray Veit each notched a hit. Chapman and St. Pierre (0-2) each tallied an RBI in the loss.

LSU Eunice scored a pair of runs in the top of the first on back-to-back singles from Bozeman and Trosclair before St. Pierre's squeeze bunt plated Bozeman and Trosclair came home moments later after stealing third and scoring on a wild Chipola throw.

The hosts would score single runs in the second, third and fourth innings before the Bengals tied the game in the top of the fifth on Chapman's solo homer to lead off the inning.

Chipola answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead before a final run in the sixth ended the night's scoring.

Hayden Barnett took the loss following 1 2/3 innings out of the bullpen in which he allowed three runs on four hits and four walks, while starter Nick Lawrence didn't factor in the decision after tossing four innings, allowing four hits and three runs (two earned) and tallying six strikeouts.

The Bengals and Chipola wrap up their four-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon with a noon start time for the finale.
