The LSU Eunice baseball team used 14 hits and five Baton Rouge Community College errors en route to a 8-6 victory on Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

The Bengals (31-7) received multi-hit nights from four players, led by Brennan Bozeman's 4-for-5 game, including a triple, while Gabe Roberts, David LaFleur (double, RBI) and Derek Herrington (triple, 2 RBIs) each collected two hits. Mason Nickens (1-4) also drove in a run.

Left-hander Chad Reeves improved on his nation-leading win total, notching victory No. 10 of the season in 6 1/3 innings of work, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven Baton Rouge (15-30) batters.

Sam Walley, the fifth and final Bengal pitcher of the night, tallied his 11th save of the season, also the best in the country, after recording the final two outs in the ninth inning.

A two-out RBI single put Baton Rouge on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Bengals responded; first in the top of the fifth when Roberts opened the inning with a single and scored on LaFleur's RBI double and then again in the sixth when Mason Nickens' RBI single gave LSU Eunice the lead.

Baton Rouge tied the game in the bottom of the sixth via a RBI double, only to see LSU Eunice plate three runs in the top of the seventh, highlighted by Herrington's RBI triple before he scored on the play via a Baton Rouge throwing error and a triple by Bozeman, who scored moments later on a passed ball.

Herrington's RBI single tacked on another Bengal run in the eighth before the visitors plated two runs in the top of the ninth on three hits and were aided by three Baton Rouge errors, as Bozeman singled and later scored via a throwing error before Trosclair doubled and later scored on a throwing error as he stole third base and trotted home.

In the bottom of the ninth, Baton Rouge plated four runs on two hits, two walks, two hit batsmen and a Bengal error, as LSU Eunice used three pitchers in the inning to eventually shut the door on the hosts' comeback attempt.

LSU Eunice and Baton Rouge wrap up their weekend series on Sunday afternoon in Eunice, with a scheduled 3 p.m. first pitch that can be seen on Bengal All-Access and heard on KVPI 1050 AM.
